This policy explains how subscriptions renew, how to cancel, and when refunds apply. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service (see § 3).

Subscriptions and renewal

Subscriptions are billed in advance and auto-renew at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Current plans and prices are at /pricing. Prices are exclusive of taxes, which are calculated at checkout.

Cancelling

You may cancel at any time via Settings → Billing → billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then. Except where required by law, we do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused part of a period.

Failed Reports

If a Report fails to complete (for example, an upstream provider error or a timeout), the Report quota consumed for that request is automatically refunded to your account (Terms § 3.3). This is a quota refund, not a cash refund.

Consumers in the EEA and UK: 14-day right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital services. Because the Service is supplied immediately:

  • When you subscribe, you request that we begin the Service immediately and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the Service has begun — that is, once the subscription is activated or you generate your first Report.
  • If you have not begun using the Service (no Report generated) and you withdraw within 14 days, we will refund the subscription fee.

This does not affect your other mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.

Other refund requests

For matters outside the above — for example a billing error or a duplicate charge — contact support@essence.report with your receipt. We evaluate such requests case by case and, where we agree a refund, issue it to the original payment method.

Payment disputes

Please contact us before opening a chargeback or payment dispute. Most issues (such as a delayed webhook showing a subscription as inactive) are resolved within 1 business day.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be notified per § 18 (Changes to these Terms) of the Terms of Service.
